In-House Quality Check

Upon receipt, all new submissions are assessed by our editorial staff before being sent for external peer review. This initial screening verifies that the manuscript meets the journal's minimum standards for scope, completeness, and ethical compliance. Submissions that do not pass this stage are returned to the authors with guidance.

Screening Criteria

Declaration of any potential competing interests
Plagiarism check against published literature
Appropriate suitability to the stated article type
Topic within the scope of JCCS
Adherence to manuscript word count limits
Presence and completeness of supplementary material
Ethical considerations, IRB approval, and consent statements
References, subheadings, keywords, and figure legends
Quality and resolution of images and figures
Clarity, grammar, and overall language quality
Timeline
The initial editorial assessment is typically completed within less than one week of submission. Authors will be notified of the outcome and whether their manuscript will proceed to external peer review.
02

External Peer Review

JCCS operates a single-anonymized peer review process — reviewers are anonymous to authors. Submissions that pass the initial quality check are assigned to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers with relevant subject expertise.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript for scientific rigour, methodological soundness, originality, clinical relevance, and clarity of presentation. Their detailed feedback and recommendations — to accept, revise, or reject — are forwarded to the handling editor.

Timeline
External peer review is typically completed within less than two weeks. Authors are kept informed of the status of their submission throughout the process.

Full Submission-to-Publication Timeline

From submission to online publication, the typical process follows these stages:

1
Initial Editorial Assessment
Screened for scope, completeness, plagiarism, ethical compliance, and minimum quality standards. Out-of-scope or incomplete submissions are returned without review.
Less than 1 week
2
External Peer Review
Minimum two independent expert reviewers assess scientific rigour, methodology, originality, and clinical relevance. Reviewers provide detailed feedback and a recommendation to the editor.
Less than 2 weeks
3
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer feedback, the editor communicates one of four decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. All decisions are accompanied by reviewer comments and, where applicable, guidance for revision.
Less than 1 week
4
Author Revision & Resubmission (if applicable)
If revisions are requested, authors are given a specific timeframe to address reviewer comments point-by-point and resubmit the revised manuscript along with a response letter.
Less than 2 weeks
5
Re-review & Final Decision
The revised manuscript is reassessed by the editor and/or original reviewers. A final decision is made based on whether the revisions adequately address all comments and concerns raised.
Less than 1 week
6
Acceptance & Production
Upon acceptance, the manuscript enters production — copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading. The corresponding author signs the License to Publish and receives a galley proof for final approval before publication.
3–5 business days
7
Online Publication
The article is published online with a permanent DOI, assigned to a journal issue, and immediately freely accessible worldwide under CC BY 4.0. All authors receive the live publication link directly.
~7 days post-acceptance

Average total time from submission to online publication: Four to Five Weeks.

04
